International Student Initiative (ISI) Co-op Hiring Grant 

The International Student Co-op Hiring Grant, is unique to UBC and the Okanagan campus, providing up to $5,000 to qualifying community partner employers to subsidize the cost of hiring, training and integrating International undergraduate co-op students from UBC Okanagan, in relevant experience with organizations within Canada. 

Funding is competitive and applicants are encouraged to apply early.

Student Work Placement Program (SWPP+)

The Student Work Placement Programs (SWPP+) provides wage subsidies through various Canadian Government funding partners, and can significantly offset the cost of hiring domestic co-op students. Eligible employers may receive a wage subsidy of 50% (up to $5,000) or 70% (up to $7,000) for under-represented groups. Funding applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, and eligibility may vary.

Additional funding programs, grants, and wage subsidies are available to support employers in hiring and retaining top Co-op talent. Explore these opportunities to make hiring a Co-op student more cost-effective.

The intention of the program is to allow applicants to prioritize a specific project or group of related activities that will provide the most meaningful impact to their organization, artistic practice, or to their community.

ARTS IMPACT GRANT 

If your business is engaged in scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED), you may be able to earn tax incentives that reduce your income tax payable.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND EXPERIMENTAL DEVELOPMENT TAX INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Offers eligible employers wage subsidies and access to a pool of talented youth with innovative ideas and competitive skills. Subsidies to eligible employers enable the creation of about 2,300 job opportunities per year in the fields of heritage, arts, culture and official languages.

YOUNG CANADA WORKS (YCW)

Optimize your budget , grow you R&D, and tap into expertise of highly skilled students to solve your research challenges and achieve your innovation goals.

ACCELERATE PROGRAM

Provides funding to eligible employers across Canada to hire and mentor youth (ages 15-30) in the natural resources sector, including in energy, forestry, mining, earth sciences, and clean technology.

GREEN JOBS SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Provides wage subsidies to support employers to create quality summer work experiences for youth aged 15 to 30 years.
